Learn more about Power Integrity (PI) Analysis

What Is Power Integrity (PI) Analysis?

This feature provides power integrity (PI) analysis, allowing users to determine the optimal placement and capacitance values of capacitors to prevent LSI malfunctions. This enables capacitor design that takes both EMI and PI into account.
The feature analyzes the impedance between the PCB power and ground planes as seen from the LSI (input impedance) and compares it with the target impedance, which serves as the allowable threshold. If the impedance exceeds the target, users can adjust capacitor placement and plane design to stabilize the impedance.

  • * This is an optional feature. It is also available as a standalone feature.

LSI Parameter Input GUI

Users can easily enter IC chip capacitance and IC package parameters that affect mid-frequency resonance, which is critical to PI performance.
This enables accurate determination of the capacitors required for the PCB design.
